We're making some big changes at Filaments.ca this week! From flat rate shipping, to global bulk discounts in our store, we've made our pricing model much more competitive with Amazon and made our best bulk pricing transparent. In this article, I've broken down how the new flat rates work, what your favourite filaments will cost with the new discount ladder and created some side by side comparisons with Amazon carts to show you how we stack up.
1New volume pricing: buy more, save more
Our new pricing takes money off per spool as your cart hits each volume tier. The discount keys off the total number of rolls in your cart, so you can combine any colours and any materials and still climb the tiers. Here's the full per-roll price for each material at every tier, with the per-spool discount shown in each column heading:

We discount your cart, not a product. Four colours of PLA is a 4-roll order. Two PLA, one PETG and one ABS is also a 4-roll order, and all get the same per-spool discount. You get the bulk price and the variety.
2New flat-rate & free shipping tiers
Shipping is now four clear tiers based on your cart total. No more guessing what the calculated rate will be at checkout. You know your shipping the moment you know your cart, and the rate drops as your order grows.
- It's your whole cart. Mix colours, mix materials, and it all counts toward the next shipping tier and your volume discount at the same time.
- Free shipping is automatic. Cross $140 and shipping is free at checkout, with no promo code to enter.
The practical takeaway: a cart that's a few dollars short of the next tier is worth topping up. One more spool can drop your shipping by $5, or take it to zero, which often makes that extra roll effectively free.
Flat-rate and free shipping are available to most Canadian addresses. Some remote postal codes are excluded and ship at a calculated rate. I'm sorry, but we'd get crushed - the margins are already really tight and most of these addresses double or triple our shipping cost.
3How it really compares to Amazon
Here's where we want to make an honest comparison for you, because Amazon actually has two prices and they compare very differently. A single roll in the colour you want runs about $20 with Prime. We checked Amazon.ca in June 2026, where basic PLA and PETG sit near $20, branded Hyper PLA around $30, and ABS around $24. But a 4-roll bundle of one colour drops to roughly $15 a roll, genuinely cheap as long as you only want that one colour in a single material. We win in two places: on carts with variety, the savings are huge, and on large carts of a single colour, there's also significant savings. Use the toggle below to see both comparisons.
